Avengers: Endgame Movie Review

The most awaited movie of all time is here. We are literally in the Endgame now, and oh what a journey has it been these 10 years!

The level of expectations and hype for this movie was so high, that even the slightest bit of goof-up by the directors (the Russo brothers) could have caused major disappointment amongst fans and audience in general. Hell, I even wore an Avengers t-shirt to go watch this movie, something which I would never have imagined doing before! Thank God this movie did not let me down. This was one of, if not, probably the best Marvel movie I have ever seen so far!

Acknowledging the marketing team of this movie for their fantastic job by revealing in the trailers what might have only been the first 15-20 minutes or so (which made the rest of the movie a pleasant surprise not knowing what to expect), I will try to review without giving away any spoilers, even from the previous films. So, this will be a NO SPOILER review...

Let's dive in, shall we?

Contrary to the opinion of many, I did not find the first act of the movie boring or slow at all. Granted, the atmosphere was dull, and there was a lot of brooding and moping, but this had to be there! You had to show the aftermath, the seriousness and dire consequences of what happened in Avengers: Infinity War. The first act actually humanized these superheroes, the ones who we normally see kicking, punching, spouting "superhero" dialogues and the like. You could feel the pain, the emotional trauma our heroes were going through. These were much needed moments, and I am happy the directors / Marvel executives did not cut these out, thinking that the movie is already long enough.

But once the 2nd act kicks in, oh boy we are all in for a ride! The movie picks up the pace like crazy, takes you to places you would never imagine, makes you feel the emotions you never think you would in a comic book movie, and makes an impact that would be ingrained in you forever. This movie is literally the end, it is a culmination of 21 movies leading up to this. It is the season finale of a 22-episode story arc that ends beautifully like most season finales do. You should have watched at least half of the 21 movies before this to appreciate the many callbacks, the characters, where they were and where they are now, the moments and interactions they have, and so on.

One of the many things I love about Avengers: Endgame was the sheer brilliance in the screenplay. The first reaction I had when the movie ended was "How was this even 3 hours long?" One would think that a movie 3 hours long would have some unnecessary scenes, some boring ones, but no. It was epic from start to finish. When people want more in a movie that is already 3 hours long, that, in itself, is a great achievement.

The action scenes were shot to perfection. I screamed, cheered, went "Woahhhhh!", cried and in general, thoroughly enjoyed. I could feel the adrenaline rush throughout the entirety of 2nd and 3rd acts. There were some great fan service moments throughout that really do leave a smile on your face. You could see the amount of effort the cast and crew had put in creating such action sequences, crafting such emotional drama, creating almost perfect VFX and cinematography. Endgame also had some of the actors like Robert Downey Jr. at their absolute best, who completely knocked it out of the park. Characters like Hawkeye and Captain Marvel, who you were indifferent about earlier, were portrayed much better here. The Russos do know how to handle these characters very well. If you recollect, these were the guys that made Captain America cool and badass (Remember Captain America: Winter Soldier?)

Well, sorry if my review was very weird or didn't address many things, as it is REALLY REALLY difficult to review this movie without spoiling anything. All I can summarise it to is this: Endgame is the perfect conclusion to a 22-chapter story of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that blends comedy, action, drama and visual effects perfectly. Endgame has some of the most epic, amazing and badass scenes that are guaranteed to give you goosebumps. The run time never felt long, the fact that it's 3 hours long and not boring is a marvelous feat. It is an action-packed, emotional thrill ride that is unpredictable, fun and stunning.

Compared to Infinity War (which is literally Part 1 of this movie), I would say I prefer Infinity War over Endgame by a teeny tiny margin, only because Infinity War was a genuine surprise, that raised the bar for Marvel movies very high. Endgame did have some very minor logic issues, but hey! I didn't even notice it until much later!

For a casual movie-goer, Avengers: Endgame could be mindless entertainment, but for a person who has been with the ride since the beginning, it really is an experience to be witnessed in the big screen (definitely in IMAX). This is the pinnacle of Marvel Studios, and I am happy to have been born in this era to witness their biggest achievement in theatres!

9/10 without a doubt. Would definitely watch it again to re-live the moments. What about you?

Spiderman : Homecoming Movie Review

Guess what? This review has NO SPOILERS. Did you read that!? NO SPOILERS. So everyone can read without any problems! Yayyy! :) Spiderman Homecoming is Marvel's (Disney) attempt at the character of "Spiderman", that has already been done twice so far. It shows the events in Peter Parker's life after the events in Captain America : Civil War (so yeah you have to watch that before this), on how he manages his school life and being the "friendly neighbourhood Spiderman". Thankfully, it stands out as a different Spiderman movie, and not the same old "With great power comes great responsibility" and Uncle Ben getting shot and stuff. I feel the movie encapsulated the character of Spiderman quite well. It showed you that after all, Spider"man" was just a kid in a suit. He kept waiting for the call from the Avengers, but he was just a kid with no experience! He needed to prove he was worthy of an Avenger! He had to show that he was something...

IT (2017) Movie Review

You'll float too. You'll float too. You'll float too. You'll float too. YOU'LL FLOAT TOOOOO!!! I was pretty keen on watching this movie after seeing this 1st teaser trailer . The trailer was well made, the music was so goddamn eerie, that even while watching this movie, all I was hoping for was for that damn music to come up. So I was expecting a creepy, scary movie, with good backstory etc. Well, I got some of that, but not all of it..... What I liked about this movie was the creep factor. What this movie really accomplished well, was the creepy, disturbing, eerie imagery. Some of the scenes were really disgusting, a little scary, and some others will make you go "WTF!". Mind you, this movie can get really violent at times, so those who can't stomach it, stay away from it! (No pun intended) The opening scene was pretty good. Great cinematography, atmosphere, lighting. The conversation between this kid and the clown for the first tim...

Vikram Vedha Movie Review

It looks like everyone has already watched this movie, and I am probably late in my review :P, but anyways. ( NO SPOILERS) Who is the hero? Who is the villain? Who is the good guy, and who is the bad guy? Can you say for sure?  - This is a very interesting concept which was very nicely brought out in this movie. I was eager to see how well they would explore this concept, with these 2 versatile actors, Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi. And who would have thought I was in for an engaging, thrilling ride overall! I would like to start by appreciating the performance of Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathy. For Madhavan, a guy who has come a long way from Anbe Sivam to Yaavarum Nalam to Irudhi Suttru and now this, and Vijay Sethupathi, from Soodhu Kavvum to Naanum Rowdy Thaan to a fearful gangster role who provides  occasional comic relief, shows how far both these actors have come. Madhavan plays a hard, no-nonsense cop, who sees black and white and nothing between, and Vijay Sethup...
